Seema Mahboob demonstrates portrait drawing and painting from a live model on Sept. 5

The Rossmoor Art Association is pleased to announce the first demonstration for the fall.  We are delighted to welcome Rossmoor drawing instructor and versatile Bay Area artist Seema Mahboob, who will demonstrate drawing and painting from a live model. Mahboob will be teaching a class at Rossmoor on drawing from the model, starting on September 7.

The demonstration will be held on Wednesday, September 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in Art Studio One. Doors open at 12:30, and the demonstration begins at 1:00. There will be a 20-minute break at 2:00 with refreshments and an opportunity to talk with the artist.

Mahboob will do two pieces during her two-hour demonstration. During the first hour she will draw a portrait from a live model in charcoal. She will demonstrate how to create an incredible likeness using light and shadow to draw the features.

After the break Mahboob will show how to use color and vibrancy to paint the full figure. She will do a sketch in oil to demonstrate how easy it is to learn and enjoy painting figures in various poses.

During the demonstration, Mahboob will answer your questions about studying and drawing from live models. She will show you how to draw or paint the figure easily and with a sense of confidence.

Mahboob has extensive teaching experience and has given many art demonstrations. Currently, she teaches drawing and collage classes for Walnut Creek Civic Arts and for local adult education programs. She has taught portrait drawing at Rossmoor since 2016.

Mahboob has earned various awards locally and abroad for her art work. To see her work, visit her website at www.seemamahboob.weebly.com.

All residents of Rossmoor are welcome to this free event.
