Always wanted to create a portrait from a photo? Here’s your chance to learn how!
Bay Area artist and Rossmoor instructor Seema Mahboob continues her popular class on drawing or painting portraits from a photograph. Classes are on Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 from July 23 through August 13 in Art Studio Two. The cost is $75 for the remaining three classes. Or new students can pay $100 for four classes and schedule a make-up class with the instructor.
Seema Mahboob is a marvelous instructor and her following of artists in her class have a great time creating portraits of family and friends from photos. Learn the important tools to see correctly and to interpret what you see. Understand the importance of form shadows and cast shadows and what role shadows play in achieving a realistic portrait. Explore negative shapes, angles and comparative measurements and learn ways to see and interpret what is in the photograph.
After a few classes, you, too, can be a portrait artist and hero to your family and friends. The series will continue in the Fall.
Bring a check to your first class. The check should be made out to RAA for $75 for three classes or $100 for four classes, with a make-up session in August.
If you are not already a member of Rossmoor Art Association, fill out a membership application, available in Studio One, and add $10 for the annual membership fee.
