RAA shows documentary “Chihuly and the Masters of Venice” on August 1

The Rossmoor Art Association (RAA) is showing the 2005 documentary “Chihuly and the Masters of Venice” at 1:00 on Wednesday, August 1 in Peacock Hall.

Watch as Dale Chihuly works first individually, and then together, with master Venetian glassblower Lino Tagliapietra and renowned hot glass sculptor Pino Signoretto in a series of historic glassblowing sessions.

“Chihuly and the Masters of Venice” explores the unusual and previously unthinkable gamble that Chihuly took in bringing the two Italian glass masters together in his studio in the United States. Two men who would never have considered working together in the secretive climate of Venice.

Chihuly created the atmosphere and spark that inspired these brilliant artists to step out of the traditional Italian concept of glass and push the limits of their creativity. The effort pays off in some of the most imaginative and technically challenging glass ever created. And together with the two Venetian masters, Chihuly creates a new form radically different from his other glass series.

The film runs 58 minutes. All Rossmoor residents and their guests are welcome.
