RAA holds annual meeting (and movie!) December 5

The Rossmoor Art Association (RAA) will hold its Annual Meeting in Peacock Hall on December 6 at 1pm.  The meeting is open to all members of RAA. Members will vote on the slate of officers for the 2018 Board of Directors and a proposed minor change to the 2015 Bylaws. 

The names of the Board candidates are: President, Pat Solari (returning); Vice President, Ted Bush (new); Secretary, Linda Towson (new); Treasurer, Murekha Viadya (new). 

Each officer is elected for one calendar year term. Current officers are eligible for re-election.  Nominations are accepted from the floor, provided permission has been obtained from the nominee. 

The single revision to the RAA bylaws is posted in both studios for review prior to the meeting. The change to Article III Section 7 is to clarify that commissions paid on the sale of artwork pertains only to that which is sold in exhibits. The proposed change was reviewed by the Board of Directors and accepted for presentation at the December 6 meeting for vote by the RAA membership.

Following the meeting, RAA Program Chairperson, Marcy Wheeler, will show the Oscar-nominated film “Girl With a Pearl Earring” about Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer. The film is based on the 2001 novel by Tracy Chevalier, and stars Colin Firth as Vermeer and Scarlett Johansson as the maid who becomes the model for some of Vermeer’s best-know works.
