19 Apr Painter Linda Towson featured at RAA Soiree May 15
Rossmoor Art Association (RAA) presents the work of painter Linda Towson at a Soiree on Wednesday, May 15th, at 7 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Gateway. RAA Soirees feature music, wine and refreshments, as well as the art of a Rossmoor resident. Anna George, convener of the soiree, will sit in conversation with the artist. Linda will present her energetic and fun figure, animal, and portrait paintings done with charcoal, watercolor, acrylic, or oil done from high school right up to this year. She will divulge the path her art has taken. This event’s musicians will be violist Rosemarie Krovoza and flutist Meriel Ennick.
Born in southern California, Linda used to draw gowns for paper dolls and took art classes in Pasadena as a youngster. After graduating from the University of Redlands, California where she met her future husband, she taught 4th grade while her husband went to dental school in Cleveland. After he graduated, they moved back to California and lived at the foot of Mt. Diablo where she loved gardening. They have lived in Walnut Creek since 1970.
She raised her two sons with lots of art projects, taking art classes herself at Diablo Valley College and Walnut Creek Civic Arts. She returned to teaching when her sons went to college, and she included plenty of art for her first graders.
Since retiring she has done lots of traveling. With her husband she traveled for three years to 32 states in an RV. She has also traveled to Africa and China and has lots of reference photos for her art.
Come and see the expressive sheep, cows, figures, and portraits painted by Linda, inspired by stories about her family and people she met on trips. Hear her talk about life with art at the Fireside Room April 15. It will be a special evening. You’ll be delighted by a retrospective of her passion for art.
