What If? Why Not? Mixing Media and Methods with Anna George_ Wed 1:00-3:30 Studio 1 (Fall)
October 5 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
“What if? Why Not?! — Mixing Media and Methods”
In this relaxing, evolving class series in Studio 1, participants explore with both a conventional and unconventional eye. Build a piece using the basic principles of composition, where the finest ingredient is the imagination. Enjoy fun and sometimes unexpected results using common and uncommon materials with each new experiment.
Add a little music, and let go of the outside world. Classes culminate with our own “art and wine festival”. Each art-maker typically completes several pieces. No experience necessary. Guided projects at the outset involve working on boards, paper, or canvas and selecting from an assortment of provided ingredients. Members then utilize their own materials or may arrange to continue with additional provided materials as they go forward in their own direction on the fourth week.
Collect ahead of time a variety interesting found materials which resonate, and the odd tool to work them– string, mesh, music sheets, fabrics, packaging foils, rice paper, the odd bits. Tools for assembling and collaging are provided. Or, simply mark with color sticks over swaths of paint. Explore a range of media where choices and combinations are unlimited and all one’s own.
I’ve offered classes at Rossmoor for over ten years, and find great pleasure in encouraging students at all levels. Prior, I painted professionally; in the forty or so years I pursued the arts; I exhibited in the U.S. and beyond: annageorgeartist.com and at annageorgeonline.com.
Reach me at 925 783 9000. The class series is eight weeks. Materials fee for the first 3-4 weeks is $25 and involves a separate materials check made out to Anna George. Late enrollment may be an option. Welcome aboard!
Note: The RAA sponsors worthwhile guest artist demonstrations on first Wednesdays, so we will instead convene on two occasions the following Sunday at hours which suit the group. This involves two weekend dates, October 9th and November 6th. An alternative date will be adopted if need be so that all are able to take full advantage. Welcome aboard!
