Quite often the perception is that in order to create a fine art print, one is required to be detail oriented and technically proficient (such as in the making of an etching, lithograph or woodblock print). But there is also an aspect of serendipity and surprise that is an integral part of making a print, the ability to make discoveries by accident, perfect for people who don’t think of themselves as artists. Whether one is an experienced printmaker or just starting to explore the medium, the moment of lifting the paper off of the inked plate is always magical.
This class will be geared to both beginners and advanced printmakers. The basics of mixing colors, rolling out ink, inking and printing (and some magic potions) will be covered. Students will explore monoprinting techniques, block printing, collagraph and drypoint.
Those with more experience will be able to proceed with own projects.
