Flowers and other natural elements

September 3 – October 15 , 2024 (seven weeks)

Tuesday 9:30-12:30 pm

This seven-week course is designed for those who want to learn or continue to paint clouds, water, trees, rocks separately or within the context of a painting. You will learn how to compose paintings with elements of your choice rather than a given image or paint an already composed image. You might work from sketches, photographs or still life to bring your ideas together. A lot of emphasis is placed on finding your own voice by understanding your own style, use of color and applying your skills to paint authentic paintings that express your aesthetic.

You will learn about form, line weight, shading, composition and the overall handling of the picture space and make lively, interesting and beautiful paintings. A variety of color mediums including acrylics, oils, or water soluble oil colors can be used on paper as well as on canvas or board. Watercolorists: Please join if you already know your medium.   Beginner watercolorists are encouraged to learn the craft first and join my class as intermediate or advanced students. Those who have started this class with me with watercolor may continue.

Come with your existing setup with colors, brushes, pencils, and other tools plus your sketchbook or canvas. The first class will include a discussion of materials and supports (canvas, paper or boards). For questions please email the instructor.
