20 Dec Carol Tarzier – Costumed Portrait and Figure Class
Come join Bay Area artist Carol Tarzier and her “Costumed Portrait and Figure” class this winter in Rossmoor. The class will paint in oil or acrylic. It meets Thursdays January 9 to March 12, from 5:30 to 9 pm in Studio One. Tuition for the 10 sessions is $225. The tuition covers a Guild/professional model for every session in addition to the instructor’s fee. Each class begins with a short demo and discussion; the last class includes a final critique.
“Costumed Portrait and Figure” covers structure of the head and figure. We’ll begin with monochrome painting, covering the value structure and proportions and getting the portrait to look three-dimensional. The session will start with four 5-minute poses, then a long pose for 2 1⁄2 hours. All poses will feature strong lighting, so that the shadows are dramatic and easy to see.
